HOW IT WORKS

My Dad works in television and he taught me how to take old family movies and digitise them. ‘Digitise’ is a fancy word for making something digital. For VHS tapes, I play them in a VHS machine and record the output into my computer. For DVDS, I have software that extracts the contents from the disks. Once I have digitised your family movie, I can either send you a link to download it, or I can put it onto a USB stick and post it to you.

VIDEO QUALITY

My Dad says that the quality of the video file is dependent upon the quality of the VHS tape or DVD. They can age and break down over time. VHS tapes can also grow mould if they are not well stored.

Look for white mould through the plastic and if there is a heavy build up I will have to clean the tape before digitising it. This will require an additional fee of $6 extra per tape.

Tech Specs

I will digitise the videos with the same screen size and aspect ratio as the originals. You will receive a file that is an MP4 and can play on Facebook, Youtube, and even most smart TVs via USB. If you order a USB stick for your files, it will be formatted as EXFAT so it will be usable on both Windows and Mac computers.

FILE DELIVERY

I will email you a private link so you can download your files.But if you have a USB stick that you would like your files put on to, you can send that to me along with the tapes / DVD's and I will pop it on there for you as well. I may have to re-format the USB stick, so please make sure there are no important files on there.I can supply a new USB stick for an extra $10 in case you don't have one.I will send your tapes and DVD's back to you in the post, and include this charge in my fee. Or if you would like your tapes / DVDs discarded after being digitised then I can do that for no extra charge.

PAYMENT

Once the job is complete and you have got your files, I will send you my savings account number so you can make an internet banking payment.
